History
The runestone was found in Borg at Birka
It was found by N. H Sjöborg in 1821 inside Borg.
He wrote:
”It was here inside the rampart on the
mountain side that in 1821, I found a stone with 2 rows of
Runes...”
Borgberget from the east in early spring

The runestone was then moved to Björkö village where it was
used as a stepping stone. Later, the runic inscription in
the corner of the stone was removed and sent to the
"Antiqvitets-Arkivet".
There is other information on where exactly
the runestone was found, but it is in the same area, in or
just outside Borg at Birka.
Sandstone
The rune stone is made of sandstone and the original size
was about 1 x 1 meter. The now preserved part with a small
runic inscription was on the upper left corner of the
original stone. The rejected piece with runic inscription
measures: 0.30 x 0.15 m.
Runes and ornamentation
The runestone lacks ornamentation and consists of only two
rune rows. But these runes are well carved: "The runes are
apparently carved by an experienced carver".
