About!Hi
It is I, Kalle Runristare, (Kalle the
runecarver) who created this website: www.runstenar.se
Why?
Short answer:
Because I can and want to and it is needed.
A longer answer would be:
This type of website is needed as a supplement to the research that
for 400 years has rather one-sidedly focused on the inscriptions on
the runestones when the artwork can also tell almost as much.
How?
With the right interests for the assignment and with good friends
who either have the same or complimentary interests.
One of the most important was Roger
Wikell, a skilled archaeologist and almost magical inventor and
close friend for over 30 years. His sudden death in 2019 was not
only a great loss to friends and family but also to our shared
history and research.
Without Roger, this website would not
have been possible.
Financing?
So far only of my own time and finances.
If someone asks if I need financial help in the future to continue
my research on runestones and runecarvers, the answer is: - Yes!
Continuation
I want and will continue to build on this website mainly during the
winter months. I hope and believe that it will lead to increased
interest and knowledge, that lost runestones will be found again and
that new finds will come.
I look forward to exciting updates
:-)
The website can of course also be
expanded with more municipalities that want a complete solution for
their own runestones.
